After we all had our babies we used to get together once a month for lunch or a play date with the kids. That started to dwindle when some of the moms went back to work and even more now that our kids are growing. Even though we don't see each other as often as we did, we still get together each year for our annual group party for the kids. Our first year we celebrated at Southwood pool, our second year we celebrated (we tried anyways) at Southwood pool again but because our group was too large and we didn't have enough passes we were basically kicked out. We then ended up at our 1200 sq ft house with about 18 people all together. It also rained that year so we stayed mostly inside. This year we decided since the kids were old enough to enjoy it, we did Build A Bear at the mall. Kevin and I asked my mom to come over and watch Karsyn for us so that we could have some alone time with Kaden. Since we were celebrating his day we also thought that it would be special if only he made a bear. If Karsyn had gone she would have pitched a fit to make a bear. She loves stuffed animals. When we first got to the mall we let the kids play in the indoor playground. There were quite a bit of older kids who were doing flips off the play equipment and wrestling around. We decided to go ahead and leave before someone got hurt. There is a height limit but some parents don't seem to follow it. We left and went to BAB. I knew Kaden would make a beeline for the computers that you use to make a birth certificate instead of wanting to pick out a bear and build it. I was right too! Kevin was able to get his attention long enough to pic out Sid from Ice Age and have the nice lady stuff him. As soon as his attention faded from that he went back to the computers. I saw an outfit from Star Wars which is Kaden's favorite movies. I knew Sid just had to wear a Jedi knight outfit. (Obie One Kanobie). Kaden was completely on board with the outfit. We were able to again get his attention to wash his animal and dress him. After everyone was done building bears and other animals we headed out to go get lunch. Before we left the store we tried getting a picture of all the kids with their bears. My child decided he was going to have a meltdown at that point. The kid who usually never wants to eat was screaming to go get chick chick and ranch at Chick A La instead of lining up with his friends for a photo. Needless to say I am in the photo with Kaden sitting on my lap screaming and crying. Most of the other kids were starting to get antsy to leave which left Kevin, myself and Kaden and Kelly, Fredrick, and Daily. We stayed to have lunch and we took the kids to the Toy Store. We got to the mall around 11am and left around 2pm. Kaden was tired and went down for a nap pretty quick. Karsyn was asleep when we got home. When both kids woke up from their naps we put our bathing suits on and lathered up with sunscreen and went outside to play. We got more sand to put in the sandbox and Kevin cleaned up our back porch so we could do some arts and crafts outside. All in all today has been a good day. Kevin and I enjoy getting some alone time to spend with Kaden. We don't want him to ever resent Karsyn coming into the family because for so long it was just him and believe me when I say, he was spoiled rotten (still is)!
Here are some pictures from the days festivities and also a few previous parties. I did not have my camera so the quality is only phone quality.
