14/30 Things: Strong

To start from the beginning click here

14. Describe 5 of your strengths

1. I am good at recognizing when I am wrong and apologizing. I have never been one to want to stay mad when in an argument. I WILL NOT go to sleep without discussing and getting over whatever the issue may be. I am quick to realize when I am at fault and I do not feel ashamed to say I'm sorry.

2. I am good at being spontaneous. Even with having kids and most of our life being routine and structured. I am also good at going on a whim. I can pick up and go without feeling the need for time to prepare for whatever we may be doing.

3. I am reliable. I can be counted on to get a job done on time and done right.

4. I am good at putting things into perspective (especially when it is dealing with other peoples issues). I guess this would also be a weakness because when it comes to my own issues I have a hard time looking on the bright side.

5. I have a very caring heart. I am the type of person who will see an elderly person sitting alone at a restaurant and will want to invite them to come and sit with me.

13/30 Things: Weak

To start from the beginning click here...

13. Describe 5 weaknesses you have...

1. I have a weakness for my children's cries. Actually any child that is crying tugs at my heart strings. I cannot stand it when my children are upset. It is even harder when they are upset because of something that I had to take away or not let them do. Their little cries just tear me up inside and make me want to go and cuddle them and give into them each time. (which I do not, I do know that, that will do no justice).

2. Shopping is a weakness of mine. If there was such a meeting, and there may be one I would totally need to sign up for SAA (shopaholics anonymous). I have a tendency to spend more then we have. I do not do this on a daily basis or even a monthly basis but I have been known to spend out of our means when I really want something.

3. Fast food is a weakness of mine. I could NOT survive doing a diet or healthy eating program of any kind. I LOVE me some fast food way too much! It is quick and easy and tastes SO good.

4. I speak before I think. When in a situation where I feel the need to speak my mind, I usually don't think about what I am going to say, I just say it. It isn't until afterwards where I think to myself, I probably could have said something different and a little less rude or hurtful. I speak with emotion and i tend to act on emotion rather then a more rational thought. It is a pretty big downfall of mine.

5. I let my mood affect my whole day and sometimes even those who are around me. You know the saying "if mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy"??? That holds true in my household. I typically don't let it spill to much over into my kids world but I do however tend to throw my troubles unto Kevin a lot. You know how they say "misery loves company"? Well mine hates to be alone!

12/30 Things: Day

To start from the beginning click here...

12. Describe a typical day in your current life.

8:15am  Kevin and Kaden leave for school and work.

10:00am Karsyn and I get up from sleeping.

10:30-11:20am We typically eat breakfast, pick up the house, get dressed, and head out to go pick up Kaden from school.

12pm Pick up Kaden from school.

12:30-1:15pm Eat lunch and play a little bit

1:30pm Karsyn goes down for a nap and Kaden does quiet time.

3:00-3:30pm Karsyn is waking up from her nap.

From 3:30-5:30 the kids will play and watch some cartoons. I start trying to pick the house up and cook dinner before Kevin gets home.

5:30-6:00pm Kevin is getting home

6:30pm Dinner time.

7:15-8:00pm Bedtime routine is started. The kids get baths and brush their teeth. We read to them and then put them to bed.

8:30 Kevin and I are in our bed having grown up time and watching our TV shows.

Our days are pretty routine. There are some days where we may venture out after picking up Kaden from school. We may do lunch with my dad or go to the store. I typically try to not stray too far from the routine, especially for nap time. If I get past a certain time in the afternoon, Karsyn will not go down for a nap.

11/30 Things: Pet Peeves

To start from the beginning click here..

11. Describe 10 pet peeves you have

1. Gum smacking
I already am not a big fan of chewing gum but when someone is behind you in line at the check out counter and they are smacking their gum and popping it, it grosses me out.

2. Coffee Rings
Kevin leaves the stains from his coffee cup on the kitchen counter. The coffee spills a little and leaves a ring where the cup is. He very seldom cleans it off.

3. Laundry
I DO NOT like laundry.

4. Non existent use of blinkers
I cannot stand driving behind someone who does not use their blinker when they turn.

5. Toilet seat being left up
Kaden still has a pretty bad habit of leaving the toilet seat up after he uses the bathroom.

6. Long breaks between TV shows
I hate that even though a show has yet to have its season finale they still take a month or two break before airing new shows again.

7. Unreliable people
If you tell someone your going to do something or have something ready, then do it or have it ready. I hate when you cannot count on people. (Especially family).

8. Chipped finger nail polish
I am not one to keep up with my nails and even though I am guilty of this A LOT, I hate chipped finger nail polish. Its so distracting.

9. Poky drivers
I dislike slow drivers that just poke around on the roads. I also dislike drivers that take their turns so slow!

10. Florida weather
I dislike the back and forth weather we have here. Warm for a few days then cold for a few days. Just stay one temp for the season and then change for the next please!

How to Save a Life

Friday morning my dad was driving down Mahan and out of nowhere the traffic came to a complete stop. There was a wreck a few cars up that happened just 10 second before he got to there. Traffic wasn't moving at all and so he pulled his car off the side of the road and dialed 911. He figured that someone already had but it wouldn't hurt to call again. He saw the driver of the pick up truck that was involved in the wreck get out and start picking up truck parts off of the road but in the few minutes that he was looking, he not once say anyone go over to the other car to check on the person that was in it. The wreck was a two car wreck and the truck was in the middle of the two lanes and the car had run off the road into the ditch. My dad decided to run up to the wreck sight and check on the person in the car. He said as he was approaching the car another guy got out of his car to come check on the person two. When they got to the car they saw that the air bag had deployed on the drivers side and the women who was in the car was slumped over and she was drooling and he eyes were slightly rolled back into her head. The man who was with my dad leaned into the window to check for a pulse on the lady and my dad went and got into the passenger side of her car. She had a pulse and the guy said he could feel her breathing slowly. She started to come to and when she did, my dad said she tried to fight them to get out of the car. My dad and the guy kept telling her to calm down and that she didn't need to move. They were worried that she may have some neck or back injuries. The lady kept telling my dad she couldn't breath. He was telling her that she was breathing and that she was going to be okay. After a few minutes the paramedics arrived.

The story was in the news about the wreck but it didn't mention or update on how the lady was doing. It just said that injuries were sustained. I am so glad that my dad and that guy got out of their cars to check on this poor lady.. If it had not been for them keeping her calm and in her car she may have hurt herself even more. It was brave of them to go and sit with her and tell her she was okay. I know that I would want someone to do that for me or my family members. Hopefully she didn't have serious injuries and was able to leave the hospital yesterday or even today. I am very proud of my dad!

Karsyn's Art/Painting Party Recap

This past Saturday we celebrated Karsyn's second birthday. She has really been into art and coloring and painting (anything messy) recently so having an "art" party was a no brainer.

We tried to keep it small with family and some close friends.

I started planning for this party about 5-6 months ago. I had been pinning ideas onto Karsyn's second birthday board. I would purchase little things here and there. About a month before the party is when I really went into party planning mode. Every weekend I worked on a project for the party. I had some help from my mom with some of the bigger projects. She says she is not creative but I think deep down she has a creative eye!

The morning of the party I was very anxious and woke up super early. I was wide awake at 4:44am and could not go back to sleep for the life of me. I laid in bed until about 6:40 and decided to get up and take a shower and get some things together to bring to my moms house. Karsyn had dance class that morning and my mom offered to take her so my step dad and I could set up for the party. I was running a little late getting Karsyn to my mom's house and I was reared ended a few blocks from her house. I was a nervous wreck and started crying. The guy that hit me was very nice and apologetic. Thankfully I had no damage to my car and I assured him that Karsyn and I were fine and that I was okay leaving without needing to call the police. I didn't have time to get into anything messy at this point. When I got to my parents house my mom and step dad rushed out to check on us and my car. What a way to start a birthday party. After we got everything inside, my mom and Karsyn left for dance class while David and I got started on decorating.

David was a BIG help. His handy work with tools and building things worked to my advantage. I had some paint cans that I needed hanging that he was able to figure out a way to make them work. He also helped me with my rainbow table skirt and getting it taped to the food table. (pictures below).

I had in my head the time frame that I was trying to stay with. I was hoping that everything would be finished (except for the food) by 11-11:30. I would pick Kaden up from my in laws and have enough time to go home and put Karsyn down for a nap and get myself and the kids dressed and get back to my moms by 3pm for the party. That didn't happen. It was about 12pm and I still had a few things to finish up with the food and still pick up Kaden and get home. We decided to just have my in laws bring Kaden to the party by 2:45 to get changed. My mom, Karsyn, and I went to my house to "try" to put her down for a nap and get ready. Karsyn did not nap but we were able to get ready.

On the way to my moms we picked up the cake. We made it to my moms house in enough time to set the food out on the table and finish a few last minute details.

The guests started showing up right away. The kids all had a blast playing on the playground in the backyard. They all were really excited to be artists and paint and color and decorate aprons and make sand art. The day turned out to be sunny and not too hot. I think everyone enjoyed themselves. by the time the party was over I know my kids were tuckered out. They both went down without a fuss that night.

Enjoy the pictures from the party!
